By the time you read this, it will be too late to buy tickets to Catch Bar & Grill's most anticipated event of the season: Feast of the Seven Fishes, a seven-course seafood and wine dinner, scheduled for Dec. 4.

Each year, tickets to the event sell out weeks - sometimes months - in advance. But never fear, according to Catch owner and executive chef Michael Poore, there are already several other wine dinners on Catch's calendar. You'll want to follow Catch on Facebook to stay up to date on those details.

In the meantime, we may focus on the flavors of this season: perennial soups, root vegetables and belly-warming desserts.

"We love the seasonal vegetables that pair so well with fresh fish," said Michael.

Catch's new cold-weather menu features ingredients such as golden beets, parsnips and butternut squash - fall favorites that all pair beautifully with pan-roasted fish, Michael said.

"An abundance of different fresh fish are available during the winter months that aren't always available year-round," Michael said.

For example, skate from the Gulf of Mexico, which Michael described as "a mild and sweet flaky white fish," or yellowtail, another sweet fish.

New homemade soups returning to the menu include hearty clam chowder, Vidalia French onion and mushroom brie bisque.

Plus, Catch's bourbon-glazed bread pudding is back - sweet, sticky and warm - a delectably filling addition to the Catch's winter lineup.
