* History: MoonPie is one the most famous brands to originate in Chattanooga, and is manufactured by Chattanooga Bakery. Chattanooga Bakery was born in 1902 out of Mountain City Milling Co.
The MoonPie was introduced in 1917, a hearty and filling snack for Kentucky coal miners. Earl Mitchell, a traveling salesman for Chattanooga Bakery, is credited with helping create the MoonPie after talking with coal miners.
MoonPie sandwiches were given out to soldiers during World War II, and the Chattanooga-made snack surged to popularity following the war and into the boom of the 1950s.

* Leadership: Chattanooga Bakery is headed by the Campbell family. Currently, fourth-generation head man Sam Campbell serves as president.
* Products: Chattanooga Bakery offers dozens of MoonPie products, from single-decker to double-decker to mini sizes, in flavors varying from vanilla, to chocolate to salted caramel. MoonPie is also licensed for T-shirts, souvenirs and toys. In 2014, MoonPie partnered with a Kentucky bourbon maker and introduced MoonPie Moonshine, a low alcohol content drink available in three different flavors.
* Territory: MoonPie snacks are available in 48 states, and MoonPie gifts and apparel are available at various stores, including Cracker Barrel.
