Manufacturing space with multiple buildings in a centralized Chattanooga location make a 26-acre tract appealing to potential buyers, according to a commercial real estate broker.

The former MetalTek International facility on South Creek Road, which shut down last year after 45 years in Chattanooga, offers 115,000-square-feet of space, 72,156 square feet of which was formerly a foundry operation.

A machine shop consists of 28,800 square feet, and a detached office is another 6,400 square feet, according to Bryan Rudisill of NAI Charter Real Estate Corp.

The foundry has ceiling heights of roughly 20-feet, 6-inches at eave and 31 feet at the center. The machine shop has 17-feet center height, according to the company.

The facilities were built in 1970 and updated in 1979, the broker said.

Waukesha, Wisc.-based MetalTek said it closed its Chattanooga facility because of the ongoing slump in oil drilling and other mining activity caused by the drop in energy and commodity prices and the softness in the industrial markets it serves.
