Jack Brown's Beer and Burger Joint has opened on the ground floor the Tomorrow Building, formerly the Yesterday's building, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, in Chattanooga, Tenn.* Location: The corner of Georgia Avenue and Patten Parkway in the heart of downtown Chattanooga.
* Tenants: Trendy eateries and a film society on the first floor, including Jack Brown's Beer and Burger Joint, Southern Sqweeze, and the Palace Picture House; upstairs, residents employed in the Innovation District live in "micro" apartments that average 352 square feet in size in three floors with common living and "innovation spaces" where tenants can collaborate on emerging projects and ideas. In July, one of the innovation spaces on the second floor of the Tomorrow Building was used by Randi Zuckerberg of Zuckerberg Media in New York City to test out "Sue's Tech Kitchen," a business concept being developed to bring family dining into the digital age.
* Claim to fame: Famed 18th Century orator and attorney William Jennings Bryan spent his last night in the building when it was the Ross Hotel. Jennings was here to battle Clarence Darrow over whether a public school teacher should discuss evolution in the famed Scopes Monkey Trial in Dayton, Tennessee.

* History: Built in 1888 as the The Delmonico Hotel, later the Ross Hotel, the brick building was home to a variety of first-floor businesses even as the upstairs was vacant. For example, the building housed Yesterday's, one of the city's most popular restaurants/nightclubs in the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s. The name "Tomorrow Building" is a playful homage to Yesterday's, which had its name emblazoned on the side of the building long after the restaurant closed.
