Most profitable businesses in 2017 in Chattanooga
Among the seven publicly traded companies headquartered in the Chattanooga area, four boosted net income in 2017 over the previous year while two reported lower profits one one had bigger losses last year.
1.Unum Corp., $994.4 million in net income in 2017, up 6.7 percent from the previous year.
2. Mohawk Industries, $971.6 million in net income in 2017, up 4.4 percent from the previous year.
3. CBL Properties, $120.9 million in net income in 2017, down 30 percent from the previous year
4. Covenant Transport, $55.4 million in net income in 2017, more than triple the profits of 2016
5. Astec Industries, $37.8 million in net income in 2017, down 31.5 percent from the previous year
6. Miller Industries, $19.9 million in net income in 2017, up 24.7 percent from the previous year
7. Dixie Group, $5.3 million net loss in 2017, more than double the losses of the previous year
