The ongoing renewal of Chattanooga's East Main Street area is highlighted as a former garment mill is for sale.

The 54,000-square-foot structure at Main and Gulf streets that dates back to 1964 has maple floors and brick walls, according to commercial real estate broker Kathy Wilton of Stonecrest Properties.

With an asking price of $1.6 million, the building is located near the Sculpture Fields at Montague Park as well as The Mill event space. Also nearby a local company is developing Sculpture Flats, which is offering residential and commercial space. In addition, the Tennessee Stove Works and Modern Maid facility at Holtzclaw Avenue and 14th Street is home to a nonprofit foundation creating a 75,000-square-foot complex for retail, commercial and an artist's residency program.

The building sits on 1.38 acres, and the structure holds a 12,000 square foot basement. The site has extensive Main Street frontage with parking at both the front and rear of the building. Ceilings are 12 feet high at the beams and 14 feet high between the beams.
