Author Elizabeth Cline, a Whitfield County native now based in New York, will discuss her book, "Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion," in a program at 6:30 p.m. today, Jan. 30, at Dalton State College, 650 College Drive, Dalton, Ga. In "Overdressed," Cline argues that the 21st-century phenomenon of overindulging in cheaply made garments, instead of investing in well-made pieces that last, has disadvantages that far outweigh its benefits. Among her discussion points will be the money wasted each year on cheap clothing, the effect it has on outsourcing labor to countries overseas and ways to be a responsible shopper. Her program, part of the Fine Arts and Lecture Series, will be held in Goodroe Auditorium. Admission is free; seating is first-come, first-served. Books will be available for sale (and signing by the author) following her talk. For more information, call 706-272-2985.
