The Memorial Health Care System Foundation will hold its sixth annual Pink! Gala, a celebration of life for breast cancer patients and survivors, Saturday at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
Proceeds benefit the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center. This year, funds are earmarked for the purchase of a new Memorial Mobile Health Coach.
For a second year, Party on the Moon will provide dance music. The ensemble has performed with such major acts as Peabo Bryson, Gladys Knight and Sting and entertained at one of the official inaugural balls for President Obama.
According to a news release, Memorial, with the help of Chattem Inc., purchased its first mobile mammography coach in 2005, which was upgraded in 2009 to include digital mammography imaging equipment. Since purchasing the first coach, Memorial has reached thousands of women, many who had never received a mammogram screening due to lack of access, lack of insurance, lack of funds, fear or other reasons.
Memorial is attempting to upgrade its capabilities by purchasing a second mobile coach that will include digital mammography as well as the ability to provide cervical cancer screenings, PAP tests and osteoporosis screenings and treatments.
"A second Mobile Health Coach will enable us to better serve the region and reduce the wait time when scheduling a mobile screening event," said Brian Lazenby, director of marketing and media relations for Memorial Health Care System.
Tickets are sold at two price points: $200, which includes cocktails, dinner and entertainment; and $350, which adds an exclusive preparty invitation, valet/reserved parking, premium seating and tableside bar service. Tables for eight are $1,600 and $2,800.
