Creole muffaletta is one giant sandwich

Though its catering selections reach beyond the Crescent City to include barbecue and country-style cuisine, the in-house menu at Blue Orleans Seafood Restaurant, 1463 Market St., is all about the Big Easy.

New on the menu is the muffaletta, a huge sandwich as traditional to New Orleans cuisine as the equally famous po' boy, said chef and owner Michael Adams. "It's a favorite in New Orleans, particularly in the district in which it was born, the French Quarter," he said.

The sandwich consists of layers of ham, Genoa salami, provolone cheese and olive salad served on a giant, 9-inch muffaletta roll. The bread is shipped from the kitchens at Gambino's in New Orleans.
