Unlabeled bottles of chemicals and food cooling issues plagued two of Chattanooga's most popular eateries, according to the Hamilton County Health Department.
The Southern Star restaurant on Broad Street received the lowest score on the latest batch of restaurant inspections by the Hamilton County Health Department with a 78.
It's not a failing score by any means, but the restaurant was dinged for an unlabeled chemical bottle, an ice cream scoop stored in dirty standing water, improper cooling procedures and for raw eggs stored over ready to eat food in the cooler.
One notch above the Southern Star, Urban Stack received an 86 on an initial inspection for an unlabeled bottle of chemicals, no thermometer present in the cooler and an employee touching a spatula to the rim of the trash can. However, those items were corrected, and Urban Stack received a new score of 96, according to county records.
On the other end of the spectrum, Flo's Famous Hot Dogs received a rare perfect score. The Gunbarrell Road eatery was the only restaurant to get a perfect score on the latest batch of inspections.
However, Crust Pizza came close, scoring a 99 at its Signal Mountain Road location.
