Location: In northern Hamilton County on Chickamauga Lake between Dallas Bay and the Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant.

Size: 1.7 square miles.

Population: 1,826.

Founded: In 1972, the city was incorporated from a subdivision with about 200 homes. It was expanded through annexations in the 1990s.

Government: Ken Wilkerson, chief of Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services, is mayor and chairman of the five-member City Commission.

Schools: Lakesite is near two schools, McConnell Elementary and Loftis Middle.

Median household income: $71,136.

Amenities: Lakesite is in the final stages of acquiring 40 acres from TVA to build a new park on Chickamauga Lake.

Unique fact: Among the 10 municipalities in Hamilton County, Lakesite has the lowest city property tax at 24 cents per $100 of assessed value. "We have not gone up in property taxes in 16 years," said Wilkerson.

"We look at it as the best of all worlds. A quiet, peaceful, reasonable way of life without sacrificing the convenience of location."
