Chattanooga and Hamilton County offer several ways for residents to recycle items as common as newspaper and as dangerous as pesticides or batteries. Here's where to go or who to call to keep the area green:

Curbside pickup

To enroll in Chattanooga's curbside recycling program call 311.

Chattanooga offers curbside recycling pickup for glass bottles and jars, cardboard, newspaper, unshredded paper, plastics 1-7 (includes soda bottles, milk jugs, shampoo and conditioner bottles, margarine tubs, bread bags, meat trays), aluminum and steel cans. All items must be put in your assigned recycle cart, clear bags or bins marked "Recycle" and do not need to be sorted.
