STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) - A 44-year-old Gwinnett County man has been accused of setting his home on fire and then stabbing his wife and their two teenage children.

Gwinnett County police spokeswoman Michele Pihera said in a news release that Jamie Bernal Gomez was under the influence of alcohol - and possibly an unknown drug - when he set several items on fire in a bathtub inside their Stone Mountain home early Wednesday.

Police say Gomez stabbed his wife multiple times when she tried to put out the flames, and then stabbed his 16-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter when they attempted to help their mother.

Authorities say all three victims are expected to survive.

Gomez is facing numerous charges, including three counts of aggravated assault. It's unclear whether he has an attorney.
