Through a coordination between the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and child pornography task force, arrests have risen in the last three years, a GBI spokesperson said in a news release.

In fiscal year 2014, the partnership netted 189 arrests, according to the release. In 2015, it netted 201. In 2016, it netted 275. The GBI says the uptick is the result of more investigators working on these kind of cases with the state police.

"These increased arrests illustrate the importance of the Task Force working together and show that individuals attempting to exploit children will not be tolerated," said Debbie Garner, the GBI special agent in charge of the child exploitation and computer crimes unit.

The GBI partners with the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which features investigators from more than 200 agencies - some local, some statewide, some federal. The U.S. Department of Justice Created the task force, and the GBI manages it.

The task force is supposed to investigate crimes, train other police, provide some services to victims and educate people.
