Whether you are hitting the slopes to ski or just taking a drive in the car, protecting your eyes from the sun is a top priority, and the Optical Shop at Complete Eye Care has a great selection of effective sunglasses.

"Thanks to the updates in technology, we now offer our popular wrap sunglasses in prescription lenses and non-prescription," said Rachael Ridge. "Protection for your eyes from the UV rays is crucial."

The edgers used to cut lenses now have features that allow for prescriptions to be filled in a variety of brands of wrap sunglasses including Oakley, Costa and Wiley X. There are styles to fit both men and women, Ridge noted.

"We can also accommodate almost any prescription," she said. "We can do so much more with them now than we could before."

The Optical Shop at Complete Eye Care welcomes all outside prescriptions as long as they are current within one year.

"We also offer discounts on second and multiple sets of sunglasses, if someone already has a frame they would like to use, they are welcome to stop in and get just lenses put into their frame," Ridge added.

The public is also welcome to stop in if they are interested in purchasing any of these sunglasses with non-prescription lenses right off the shelf.

The Optical Shop also carries a variety of accessories for each of the styles including Croakies, hats and
shirts.

"There really is something for everyone," said Ridge. Most people associate UV damage with the skin, but you also
get UV damage to your eyes, without the proper protection. Even in the winter months you are exposed to UV. 5-10% of all skin cancers occur on the eyelid, wearing sunglasses is the best way to prevent eyelid skin cancer since you can't wear sunscreen on your eyelids, according to Candace Davis, an optician with Complete Eye Care.

"The technology used to be limited for wrap sunglasses; only certain prescriptions could be made in wrapped sunglasses," she said. "With the advancement of technology, now almost all labs are equipped with the edgers that are used to make the lenses that go into the wrapped frames, offering a wider range of prescriptions that can
be fit in a wrap frame."

Looking toward the future, the likelihood of even more prescriptions to fit in wrapped frames will be even
greater.

Wrapped sunglasses keep out more of the damaging rays because they fit closer to the face, which in turn is fantastic for post-cataract patients, patients with macular degeneration, or anyone with any kind of eye problems, Davis noted.

"So for all you motorcycle enthusiasts, skiers, fishermen or runners, come visit us at Complete Eye Care for all your eye care needs," she said.

The professionals at Complete Eye Care are available Monday-Friday to assist with all your eye care needs. Walk-ins are welcome should a patient find themselves in an emergency situation. The Optical Shop is open to the public
and you don't need an appointment to stop by. You can also bring in your outside prescription for glasses
and/or contact lenses. The store has a variety of frames and contact lens options that fit every budget, need and style.
