I Love my Job: at Action Air and Electric

January 11th, 2009 in Jobsilove

I have been blessed in my chosen profession. I began my career in the heating and air conditioning field in high school. I went on to complete the air conditioning, refrigeration course at Chattanooga State right after graduation in the early 80's. I went to work in my field, working in Atlanta and Chattanooga for other air conditioning companies. In 1989 a long time friend, Eric Dunn and I decided to start Action Air and Electric. 20 years later we are still at it.

The best part of my job is the opportunity to work with so many different people, and privilege to run my company with my best friend. Even though we have service techs on staff that do the majority of our service, I still enjoy running service calls and troubleshooting heating and air problems. Folks are apprehensive when they have to call a service company to their homes, never knowing what to expect. I enjoy putting their minds at ease and not only taking care of a customer but trying to make a friend. In the 20 years I have been in business I have laughed with, cried with, and even prayed with many of the people who have had me in their homes. When you ring the doorbell, you just never know who is on the other side of the door and what is going on in their lives. Not many careers put a person in more peoples' homes than mine. You meet all types in all types of situations. I enjoy the opportunity to sell them on me, my company and I only hope that they get the impression that I am a man of faith that strives for integrity.

I hope I can do what I do till I am an old man. I really have never looked back and wished that I had done anything else with my life as far as my career goes. I have been blessed with a great wife and children, a best friend as a business partner, people who work for me that are more like family than employees, and a career that financially supports my family's needs. When evaluating the truly important things in life, you really can't ask for any more than that. I am truly blessed.
