Opening day is Thursday for the Chattanooga Lookouts at AT&T Field, but it's not too early to begin marking your calendar for the special events and promotions planned around the new season.
Among them is the Little Debbie Little Lookouts Club, which may be the deal of the year. For $10, kids 12 and younger will receive an official membership card, a T-shirt, free admission to all nine Sunday games and a set of 2011 team baseball cards.
Plus, according Pete Intza, director of media relations for the Lookouts, "If you call now and join, you can attend a special season-ending pregame picnic with the players and coaches. And if you register before [Tuesday], you can get it all for $8."
In addition to the usual fireworks, bat giveaways and Used Car Night promotions, Intza said there are a couple of new wrinkles added to the events schedule for 2011. On May 6, for example, area Boy Scouts will be able to camp out overnight on the field.
Also new for 2011, group rates are now available for box seats. You can save $2 each on lower and upper box seats when you buy 25 or more seats.
The Lookouts will open the season Thursday with a five-game home stand against the Tennessee Smokies. Games begin at 7:15 p.m., except Sunday's, which begin at 2:15.
The team will play an exhibition game at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at AT&T Field against the Chattanooga State Tigers.
Tickets prices range from $2 to $8.
