Homeschool Science Club registering

Homeschool Science Club is registering homeschooled students ages 5-12 for sessions at the Creative Discovery Museum, 321 Chestnut St. Club sessions will be held Thursdays, 1-3 p.m., from September through May.

Homeschool Science club integrates science topics and hands-on activities with group interaction and exploration time in the museum.

The four-week session topics include:

September: Wacky Weather teaches instruments used to forecast weather and investigates the forces influencing the climate.

October: In Your Backyard will look at bats, spiders and snakes.

November: Good Vibrations explores how the science of sound relates to music and instruments. Students will experiment with conductors, insulators, open and closed circuits while learning about electricity and energy.

January: It's Not Magic, It's Science engages all five senses.

February: Matter Matters will help students see, feel, hear and smell the relationships between states of matter.

March: Spring's Wings and Stings covers bees, butterflies and animals active in the spring.

April: Students in Movin' and Groovin' will defy gravity, shoot rockets and race objects of differing masses.

May: Out of this World will explore the solar system constellations.

Fees are $45 per four-week session for CDM members, $55 nonmembers. Payment is due at the time of registration. A special $1.50 parking rate is available during class hours. Plus, nonmembers will also have free admission to the museum daily during homeschool class hours.
