"American Idol" runner-up and Rossville teenager Lauren Alaina will perform a benefit concert Dec. 7 at Track 29, the new music venue on the Chattanooga Choo Choo campus.

US-101 is sponsoring the show, which will be open to all ages, according to Big Daddy Kyle Croft, assistant production director at Clear Channel Chattanooga. Proceeds will go to Clear Channel's Christmas for Kids program and the Forgotten Child Fund.

New artist Jacob Lyda will open the show as will a local act who will be voted on by US-101 listeners. Local acts that currently get airplay on the station's "Backwoods Country" are eligible.

Lauren Alaina is currently riding the wave of publicity from the Oct. 11 release of her first CD "Wildflower." The CD debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, making her the highest rated female country artist to debut that high since 2006. She is the youngest female to debut that high since LeAnn Rimes 15 years ago.

"We are proud of Lauren's success and very excited she is coming home for the holidays to play a benefit show for US-101's Christmas For Kids and the Forgotten Child Fund," said on-air host Bill "Dex" Poindexter.

Tickets will be $20.
