Burns Tobacconist hosting smoker

More than 300 people from 48 states are registered for this weekend's smoker at Burns Tobacconist, 110 Jordan Drive in East Brainerd, according to manager Matt Allen.

"It's going to be huge for Chattanooga," he said. "I don't have anyone flying in from Hawaii, but I do from California."

The event got under way Thursday and continues today with registration and goody-bag pickup. The group will then travel to AT&T Field for the Lookouts game, where they will enjoy refreshments and drink specials in the pavilion.

After the game, the party returns to Burns and will continue until 3 a.m., Allen said.

Registration for late arrivals begins Saturday at 9 a.m. Representatives from dozens of cigar manufacturers and retailers will be on hand, providing demonstrations and information throughout the day. A chartered bus will take half of the group to dinner at the Chattanooga Billiard Club downtown while the remaining group samples Padron cigars and Chattanooga Whiskey. The two groups will switch places at 7 p.m.

A panel discussion featuring cigar industry leaders will follow dinner, and the night will conclude with a party with music provided by a DJ, Allen said.

Admission is $50 for the smoke and $20 for the Lookouts excursion.
