Carmike Cinemas will celebrate the grand opening of the Bradley Square 12 in Cleveland, Tenn., with a $1 movie night tonight, Dec. 13.

The event kicks off at 7 p.m. with a selection of recent blockbuster movies for $1 admission, along with popcorn and soft drinks priced at $1 each. Proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Tickets go on sale at 1 p.m. today.

The new 12-screen theater is at Bradley Square Mall, 200 Paul Huff Parkway. It boasts a seating capacity of 2,300 and features one of Carmike's BigD big-screen concept theaters.

The BigD auditorium screen is 60 feet wide and nearly three stories tall. It will have a digital cinema projection system capable of both 2-D and 3-D presentations, a 7.1-channel sound system that has the ability to upgrade to 11.1 and 21-inch subwoofers.

The BigD experience is powered by a cutting-edge Christie Brilliant 3-D flash projector. The end result, according to Carmike officials, is a picture quality with noticeably higher resolution than HD.

The stadium-style layout features high-back luxury chairs with retractable armrests and cup holders. The upscale lobby has multiple concession areas featuring Coca-Cola Freestyle drink centers. The theater may be accessed from inside or outside the mall.
