A series of candlelight tours will continue weekends in December at the historic Marsh House in LaFayette, Ga.
The tours, developed by the home's history committee, will be offered 6-8 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday during the holiday season. The theme is "Christmas 1880: At Home With the Marsh-Warthen Family."
Visitors will be received by docents in period dress who will re-enact the Christmas Eve scene as though they were family members. They include Ruth Marsh, who with her husband built the historic home about 1836, their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Green Warthen, some of the servants and children from 2-17 years of age.
The house will be presented in a historically accurate manner using mostly natural materials. The actors portraying Mrs. Marsh, the Warthens and the servants will discuss how the family and the house survived the Civil War.
Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children.
