Poems about pets basis of children's contest

The American Pet Products Association is accepting submissions through 5 p.m. EST Jan. 31 for the annual Pets Add Life Children's Poetry Contest.

Students in grades 3-8 are invited to write an original poem about their pets, what they love about them and the joys they bring. They may post the poem online at www.PetsAddLife.org or mail it, along with a submission form, to Pets Add Life, 661 Sierra Rose Drive, Reno, NV 89511.

One student from each grade level nationwide will win a $250 gift certificate for pet products and will have his/her poem published in a nationally circulated publication. In addition, the six winning students' classrooms will win $1,000 scholarships to spend on pet-related education.

Additionally, teachers within contest grade levels are welcome to incorporate the national contest into lesson plans and submit poems on behalf of the classroom.
