Cystic fibrosis

walk/fun run

The 8th Annual Great Strides Walk and Fun Run fundraiser to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be held Sunday, April 22, 1-5 p.m. at Greenway Farms in Hixson. Registration begins at 1 p.m. and the walk/fun run at 2 p.m. Earn prizes. Silent auction, kids corner, music, food after walk. Health workshop

A free "Better Choices, Better Health" workshop will be held to help those struggling with chronic conditions starting March 29 at Dogwood Manor, 959 Gateway Ave., downtown. This six-week program is designed by the Stanford University School of Medicine and meets from noon-2:30 p.m. each Thursday from March 29-May 3. Lunch provided. Saebo screening

for arms and hands

Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation offers new treatment options with Saebo rehabilitation products. A free Saebo screening for those who have suffered a loss of movement in their hands or arms will be held Tuesday, 1-2:30 p.m. at Siskin Hospital Outpatient Conference Room. Diabetes

n Diabetes self-management. This is a two-session program for diabetes control from 4-8 p.m. today. Second session is March 15, at the Chattanooga Heart Institute, second floor. n Basic diabetes. This is a two-session program to be held at Diabetes and Nutrition Center at Memorial Hospital. First session is Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. and provides an overview of diabetes and treatment/prevention of complications. The second session meets March 21. Erlanger classes

n Breastfeeding class held at Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road) 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17. Learn breastfeeding basics, what to expect the first few weeks and special tips for success. Weight-loss surgery

The Gastric Band Institute will hold a free seminar on gastric banding (Lap-Band ad Realize Band) and the new "sleeve" procedure for people who are 75 pounds overweight, on Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m., at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, Roosevelt Room, 1400 Market St. Call 899-1000 for reservations.
