Motor City rock legend Ted Nugent will bring six strings of fury to Track 29 on Aug. 21, the Market Street venue announced Monday.
Nugent, 63, is a celebrated rock wild man who is renowned as much for his outspoken political views as for his brash, energetic guitar work on songs such as "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Yank Me, Crank Me." He recently earned the title as Detroit's greatest guitarist in a May reader poll on the website Mlive.com.
Nugent's show at Track 29 will be part of his Great White Buffalo Tour 2012 which starts June 9. The booking, which was confirmed two weeks ago, is the result of two months of negotiations, said venue co-owner and founder Adam Kinsey.
"Ted is a rock legend, and we're happy to have him," Kinsey said. "I really do think he's ... one of the best guitar players around.
"We try to get four to five really big shows a year, and I would consider Ted Nugent one of those four or five."
The show will be capped at 1,500 people. Tickets, priced at $35 in advance, go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at the website www.track29.co and at Track 29's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/track29.
