Sweet Peppers Deli has much to offer

The Mediterranean chicken panini at Sweet Peppers is a tasty sandwich. Served here with a bowl of crawfish bisque, it was plenty of food for lunch.

Last week, we were traveling down Broad Street on our way to our usual sandwich place when we spotted a parking spot near Sweet Peppers Deli. I'd never been and was game to give it a try.

The first thing I noticed was the sidewalk patio and the open, airy feel of the place. The second thing was the extensive menu and the variety. In the salads section alone, you can choose among chef, Waldorf, taco or Big Greek Hummus salads.

I went with the Mediterranean chicken panini. Not seeing the list of side orders, I had to ask the cashier what was available and, despite the fact that he'd probably repeated it about a hundred times that day alone, he kindly pointed out the choices. I chose the crawfish bisque. The cashier said it came in a small cup. He understated by about half.

What I got was more like a bowl and very good.

The sandwich was also good. It came with sliced chicken tossed in Greek dressing and served with Genoa salami, pepperoni and provolone cheese on ciabatta.

Though it was a lot of food, both items were really good and made me want to go back and try something else.
