Eleven high school students will compete Sunday for cash awards totaling $1,800.
The vocal competition is sponsored by the Performing Arts League, a local organization of volunteers whose mission is to promote youth involvement in the performing arts, and by a partial grant from Opera Volunteers International.
The competition will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine St. There is no admission for spectators.
In front of a panel of three professional judges, each singer will perform two selections from the classical repertoire. The winner will perform at the CSO Youth Orchestra's spring concert, in addition to receiving a cash prize.
