Jim Hall to speak at First Amendment Dinner

Jim Hall, former chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, will be the featured speaker at the seventh annual First Amendment Dinner.

The dinner wll be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Jewish Cultural Center, 5461 North Terrace Road. Tickets are free for veterans, $10 for all others if reserved by Monday. Tickets are $12 for everyone after Monday.

Hall is a leading expert on crisis management, government relations, transportation safety and security and worked with government and private clients for more than five decades.

He was director of Tennessee's planning office for five years before serving as chief of staff for Sen. Harlan Matthews, D-Tenn. Hall left that position when President Bill Clinton appointed him to head the National Transportation Safety Board.

He is a former member of the Board of Trustees at the University of Tennessee and the Tennessee River Gorge Trust. He chaired Chattanooga's Enterprise Center for eight years and is currently a member of the UC Foundation at UTC and vice chairman of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority.
