Performing since 1997, Dana Rogers is a soul-driven songwriter known for a sultry blend of vocals and understated guitar. A fan once told Rogers that her voice "is like steel-reinforced velvet"

- smooth and strong. Her musical style is

a combination of acoustic fingerstyle jazz, folk, funk and blues.

They lost by a nose in the 2012 edition of McKay's Road to Nightfall. This year, with many more gigs under their belt, Amber Fults & The Ambivalent Lovers triumphed in the competition and will headline at the Nightfall summer concert series Friday, June 21, at Miller Plaza. Opening act is Dana Rogers.

Built around the core of Fults' smart, catchy songs and expressive voice, The Ambivalent Lovers fashion a sound of hard-hitting rock 'n' roll with splashes of country, pop and classic rock thrown in. Others in the band are Hunter White (drums), Travis Kilgore (bass, vocals), Hayley Graham (harmony vocals) and Butch Ross (multi-instrumentalist/producer).

They had just established their full lineup when they competed in last year's Road to Nightfall contest. They won the first round, but in the final competition, their second gig, they narrowly lost out to their friends Strung Like a Horse. The band performs regularly at JJ's Bohemia, The Honest Pint and Rhythm & Brews.

The musicians have completed their first five-song EP, "The Implication," and are working on a full-length CD.

Beer, wine, food and nonalcoholic drink concessions are available on-site at Nightfall. No outside food or beverages are allowed.
