Plumlee returns to Ridgedale Baptist

Doug Plumlee, ordained and licensed to preach at Ridgedale Baptist Church, is returning to the East Brainerd Church as senior pastor.

His first Sunday at the pulpit will be June 2. He replaces Bill Owens, who was pastor of the church for more than 30 years, and interim pastor Larry Williams.

Plumlee is coming from Franklin, Tenn., where he has been pastor of West Franklin Baptist Church since 2008. That church was recognized by the Tennessee Baptist Convention in 2010 in a list of fastest-growing Sunday schools. He presently is a member of the Resolutions Committee of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and served as a trustee of the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home from 2000 to 2009.

Previously, he also served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Pulaski, Tenn., from 1997 to 2008, as pastor of First Baptist Church in Celina, Tenn., from 1990 to 1997, as pastor of Elmburg Baptist Church in Pleasureville, Ky., from 1988 to 1990, and as associate pastor and youth minister at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hixson during the summers of 1985 through 1987.

Plumlee, a graduate of Red Bank High School, received a a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Tennessee Tech and a master's in divinity and doctorate in ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

He and his wife, Pam, are parents of three children, Andrew, 14, Lauren, 12, and Hannah, 9.
