UTC Singers in fall concert Friday

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Chattanooga Singers and Chamber Singers will present their fall concert on Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 305 W. Seventh St. Music starts at 7:30 p.m.

Kevin Ford and graduate assistant conductor Julie Drexler will direct the choirs. Keith Reas, organist and director of music at St. Paul's, will accompany the singers.

Ford will conduct the Chattanooga Singers' performance of Louis Vierne's "Solemn Mass, Opus 16" and Blake Henson's "My Flight for Heaven." The singers also will present Joseph Flummerfelt's "Danny Boy" and Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Sweet Day." Drexler will conduct "Tambur," an old Hungarian dancing song arranged by Lajos Bárdos.

The Chamber Singers will perform a selection of Scandinavian and sacred pieces, including "Pingst" by Oskar Lindberg, "Aftonen" by Hugo Alfven, "A Hymn to the Virgin" by Benjamin Britten, "O Sacrum Convivium" by Vytautas Miškinis, "Jubilate Deo" by Ko Matsushita, and "Agnus Dei" by Samuel Barber.

Ford notes that, although the performance is free, donations will be accepted to benefit the Glenn Draper Choral Scholarship at UTC.
