Grateful Gobbler Walk raises $200,000 for family shelter

What: More than 3,260 folks walked in the annual Grateful Gobbler Walk at Coolidge Park.

Benefits: The walk raised $200,000 for the Chattanooga Community Kitchen's new Maclellan Shelter for Families, located on 11th Street. The shelter has 13 units with 64 beds and is the first emergency shelter of its kind in the city that allows families to remain together as they search for permanent housing solutions. Previously mothers with young sons or fathers of young daughters have been separated to be housed in male-only or female-only locations.

Shriners donate $25,000 to hospital

What: The Alhambra Shrine clown unit from Chattanooga recently donated $25,000 to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Lexington, Ky. The donation was raised through proceeds of Shrine fundraisers during 2014, including a barbecue and candy sale.
Benefits: The money will help pay for a new children's hospital adjacent to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

WTCI preview draws 'Downton' fans

What: WTCI, the Tennessee Valley's PBS station, held a reception at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre prior to a sneak preview screening of "Downton Abbey's" season 5 premiere.
