The Salute to Senior Service program is looking for nominees as Tennessee's Outstanding Senior Volunteer.

The program, sponsored by Home Instead, Inc., wants to give recognition to adults age 65 and older who give at least 15 hours a month of volunteer service.

"Senior volunteerism not only benefits others, but also helps seniors stay active and socially engaged in their communities - important elements of healthy aging," James Gardenhire, owner of the Home Instead Senior Care office serving Hamilton, Bradley and Marion counties, said in a news release.

Between now and March 1, go to SalutetoSenior Service.com to nominate someone. State winners will be determined by popular vote. From those names, a panel of senior-care experts will select a nominee for the national Salute to Senior Service award.

Home Instead will donate $500 to each of the state winners' designated and approved nonprofit organizations, and their personal stories will posted online at the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame. The national winner's nonprofit charity will receive $5,000.
