The Chattanooga Music Teachers Association recently named its 2014 Teacher of the Year and awarded scholarships to rising high school freshman. The scholarship recipients performed at the association's summer luncheon held at Ridgedale Baptist Church.
Nancy Teague, CMTA scholarship chairman, says the award recipients were Allen Liu, Joseph Schutz and Harper Beeland.
Angie Smith, a piano instructor for 20 years, was named Teacher of the Year. She received her undergraduate degree from Carson Newman College and a master's degree from Golden Gate Seminary. Before moving to Chattanooga, she was on the staff at Golden Gate Seminary and California Baptist University. She currently teaches music at Ridgedale Baptist School of Fine Arts.
