Choices Matter Teen Maze demonstrates consequences of actions

Local organization 1N3 -- which takes its name from the statistic that drunk driving affects one-third of the population -- will debut the Choices Matter Teen Maze next week for high school sophomores in Hamilton County.

Described as a life-size, interactive game board, the maze educates teens about the consequences of life choices before they are faced with making those choices. In addition to 1n3's mission of stressing the dangers of drinking and driving, the maze covers such topics as substance abuse and rehabilitation, legal consequences and the justice system, relationships, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy and parenting, financial obligations, depression and suicide, peer pressure, media myths and dangers, education and career opportunities.

According to its website, 1N3 was inspired to bring the maze to Chattanooga after a member of its team volunteered with a similar project by the Catoosa Prevention Initiative in October 2013.

Tours through the maze are scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday through Friday, April 8-10, at Eastgate Town Center, 5600 Brainerd Road.
