Christina Starnes Evans, 26, will not be working at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department tonight, and is instead performing with country music star Kenny Chesney at the CMT Music Awards in Nashville.

Evans grew up in Chattanooga, and is the daughter of Hamilton County Sessions Judge Gary Starnes. She currently works at the Sheriff's Department as a micrographic operator, and said she decided to submit a photo of herself to a Nashville casting agency hoping to land a job as an extra in upcoming music videos.

"I was in shock when I got an e-mail back asking me to be on stage with Kenny Chesney," Evans said Wednesday. "I had to read the e-mail like five or six times before I believed it."

Evans spoke with the Times Free Press just minutes before the CMT Music Awards aired live on TV at 8 p.m.

"I am a little nervous," she said. "But am really, really excited!"

Evans will appear on stage dancing to Chesney's song "American Kid," and said she has been a fan of the performer for years.

"I love country music. I love it! I love it!" Evans said. "...This still feels so unreal."
