Jordan Smith, winner of Season 9 of "The Voice," will return to his alma mater, Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., on Thursday, Feb 18.

Smith will sing and talk to students at 10:40 a.m. in Conn Center during the Chapel program. The event will be open to the public. In case of an overflow crowd, Lee has a closed-circuit, on-screen relay of Chapel programs in Dixon Center, according to Brian Conn in Lee's Office of Public Affairs.

Smith, a native of Harlan, Ky., was a Lee senior when he took a semester off this time last year to try out for "The Voice" and won a place on Adam Levine's team. Downloads of his performances on the NBC reality TV show broke "Voice" records in iTunes sales. He was the first contestant to crack the Top 10 on iTunes singles chart in each of the five weeks of live performances on the show and, on two of those weeks, he ousted Adele from the No. 1 spot.

This weekend, Smith is headlining the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration at 7:30 p.m. Friday, which will air later on BET. He will serve as Grand Marshal of the Kentucky Derby in May. He also performed at the People's Choice Awards last month, accompanied by legendary producer David Foster, who is working with the Lee alum on his new album.
