LISA DENTON: Happy New Year, Barry. I celebrated the way I usually do: by examining, at length, the backs of my eyelids. What can I say. New Year's Eve is less booze fest, more snooze fest for me. The trade-off is that I'll be up and at 'em this morning. There's more than you might think going on for the holiday.

First-day hikes in the state parks. A new bird movie at Imax. Skating at Ice on the Landing. Plus most of the tourist attractions are open, and there's always movies and bowling.

BARRY COURTER: And there is football. Duh, how could you forget football? Sadly, I have to admit New Year's Day football is nothing like it used to be when the first game would start around noon and the last wouldn't be over until midnight or so. For most of the day, there'd be at least two going on at once.

In some ways, I liked it better than Christmas Day. There were a couple of years during my preteens when I don't think I got out of my pajamas, and that included playing a couple of games of touch football in the backyard with my brother. But you know what they say: Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Speaking of nostalgia, Dawn Wells will be the special guest star for the annual World of Wheels show this weekend at the Convention Center. WOW is all I can say.

LISA: So it's pretty obvious where you land on the Mary Ann or Ginger question. I'm also pretty sure I know the answer to Cloris Leachman or Betty White.

But we should totally play that game sometime. Chocolate or vanilla? Cake or pie? Sausage or bacon?

That's weird. All of my this-or-that questions are food-related.

BARRY: Neither of us has ever claimed to be complicated, as I recall.

LISA: And of all my answers are: Both.

BARRY: Sort of how I feel about Ginger and Mary Ann, actually.

Randall Bramlett is at Songbirds on Saturday, too, don't forget. He's great.

Happy New Year, everybody. Thank you very much for reading.
