Magic Mike is coming to Knoxville.

Actor Channing Tatum and director Steven Soderbergh will appear at a charity premiere of the new comedy "Logan Lucky" on Wednesday, Aug. 9. The star and director will walk the red carpet at Regal Cinemas Pinnacle Stadium 18, 9674 Parkside Drive.

The event is the latest in Regal's fundraising movie premieres for Variety - The Children's Charity. The Knoxville chapter of the organization was founded by Regal Cinemas in 2001 and has raised more than $9.5 million to assist children in East Tennessee.

Born in Cullman, Ala., Tatum is one of the country's most popular movie stars. His films include "White House Down," "Magic Mike," "22 Jump Street," "Dear John," "Step Up" and "Hail, Caesar!"

Director/producer Soderbergh's film credits includes "Sex, Lies and Videotape," "Erin Brockovich," "Haywire," "The Informant," "The Limey" and "Oceans 11."

Soderbergh and Tatum worked together in the films "Side Effects" and "Magic Mike."

"Logan Lucky" features Tatum and co-star Adam Driver as inept brothers who try to reverse a family curse while pulling off a robbery during the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The comedy's cast includes Daniel Craig, Seth MacFarlane, Riley Keough, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterston, Dwight Yoakam and Hilary Swank. Several NASCAR drivers have cameos in the film.

The movie will go into nationwide release on Aug. 18.

The Knoxville event will include a catered reception in the Pinnacle lobby before Tatum and Soderbergh walk the red carpet. A limited number of tickets are available for $50 at Knoxville Regal Cinemas Pinnacle 18, West Town Mall and Riviera.

"We are honored to host Channing Tatum and Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh at the 'Logan Lucky' benefit screening to raise money for Variety's special-needs children," said Greg Dunn, Regal president and chief operating officer, in a news release.

"With a resume of movies ranging from action to comedy and drama to thrillers, Channing is a true force in the entertainment industry. We also extend our sincerest gratitude to Steven and our friends at Fingerprint Releasing and Bleecker Street for making this screening possible."
