* What: More than $16,000 was raised to provide funding and financial aid to Georgia Northwestern Technical College students during the 19th annual J.D. Powell Memorial Golf Tournament held at Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, Ga. The tournament is named in honor of James Derward Powell, who served as president of GNTC from 1987 to 1994.
The tournament was sponsored by Balfour Beatty Construction, Fox Systems Inc., The HON Co., Mohawk Industries Inc. and Shaw Industries Group Inc.
* Winners: The tournament was divided into two flights, and prizes were awarded to the first-place teams in each flight.
* First flight: The HON Team of Clay Cooper, Matt Hall, James Lanier and Trevor Peek.
* Second flight: Balfour Beatty Team of Chuck Greenway, David McBurnett, Robbie Nash and Chuck Walker.
* Closest to the Pin: Dylan Trovillion.
* Longest drive: Charles Walker.
* Ball drop raffle: Chuck Wright.
