LISA DENTON: Barry, we've discussed in this space before that haunted houses are not a favorite of me and my bladder.

BARRY COURTER: Come on, you know how I feel about bodily function discussions. Pretty much the same as I do about haunted houses. I'm a runner.

LISA: I know, but I'm telling you that there are a couple of places where even wimps like me can get a good spook without needing to bring a change of clothes.

BARRY: COME ON!!!

LISA: Listen, Lake Winnepesaukah has Lake WinnepeSpookah every Friday through Saturday in October, plus Oct. 29, the Sunday before Halloween. That's always fun because there are performers who do the zombie dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller," and the rides are designated with a pumpkin, ghost or skeleton to let you know if it's a kiddie, family or thrill ride.

And Audubon Acres has Acres of Darkness Haunted Woods & Family Adventure on Fridays and Saturdays starting this weekend. That sounds like fun. And Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum has the Eerie Express train ride to a funhouse.

BARRY: I'm kidding, of course, sort of. The haunted houses, corn mazes, shopping malls, grocery stores, etc., are pretty cool. The folks who organize them are totally committed, and they really do a great job. Or so it looks like from the parking lot to me.

There's plenty to do this week, again. Prater's Mill is this weekend. The Nth Power, which is a great local band, is at The Bessie this Thursday. Delbert McClinton, who was my gateway guy to the blues thanks to the Blues Brothers (his music was part of the movie soundtrack), will play at the Walker Theatre at Memorial Auditorium on Saturday. The folks who run Memorial and the Tivoli have upgraded the Walker with lighting and sound equipment and plan to put a bunch of shows in there. It's upstairs at Memorial, and it's a great venue.

LISA: All three venues are busy the rest of the year, especially the Tivoli. It's worth a visit to www.tivolichattanooga.com to get your plans in order. Wait too long and things sell out, like the Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakam show at the Tivoli on Oct. 21.

And as long as we're talking big shows, we need to mention Marlon Wayans is coming to The Comedy Catch. He stars in an NBC sitcom, "Marlon," but he's also known for several films, including "Naked," "White Chicks" and "Fifty Shades of Black." Not to be confused with "Naked White Chicks and Fifty Shades of Black," which is a whole other movie.

BARRY: Yeah, that's a whole 'nother discussion.

"In Living Color," which starred about 400 Wayans family members, was "must-see TV" for my family back in the day.
