LISA DENTON: Barry, I saw your story about The Bacon Brothers in last week's ChattanoogaNow, and I have to tell you, you had me at Bacon.

I'm not sure I could have written that story because, as you know, I'm easily distracted by bacon.

Did you know there are bacon poems? I found this one online: Roses are red / Bacon is too / Poems are hard / Bacon.

I feel bad that I can't concentrate on the very talented Bacon Brothers. I bet they have a lot of projects on their plate.

BARRY COURTER: I was hoping you were going to commend me for not using any Bacon puns in my story. I didn't headline it Makin' Bacon Music, for example, or Bacon Brothers Sizzle On Stage. We are talking about them, of course, because their band will be at Songbirds South at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

For folks unaware, Kevin and Michael Bacon have released seven albums together and have been touring for two decades. Michael is also a film composer, so this isn't some late-in-life vanity project.

LISA: I don't know what made you think I would commend you for NOT making puns, but I'll play along. Both Bacons have extensive credits on their IMDB pages. Kevin's are mostly for acting, of course. But if you're keeping score (see what I did there?), then Michael might get the edge. You've probably heard his music on "American Experience" or any number of other television documentaries, whether you know it or not.

BARRY: It's another good week for music in general. Modest Mouse is at the Tivoli tonight, and Nightfall and Riverfront Nights return Friday and Saturday with The Fritz and The Get Right Band, respectively. Songbirds has some more good stuff this weekend too, with River Whyless and Cecil Allen Moore there on Friday, and Jess Goggins doing a Janis Joplin tribute there on Saturday. Folks might know Moore as "Peewee," but he goes by Cecil now. No matter what you call him, he's a real-deal honky-tonker.

LISA: It's hard to live down a childhood nickname, but he told alt-country website Country Music Armadillo that the name change was necessary because of some confusion about selling his music through his Facebook account. And if you read how he got even with a grade-school bully for making fun of the name "Peewee," you won't say anything about "Cecil." After reading that account, I feel compelled to call him Mr. Moore.

BARRY: He is actually our guest this Wednesday on Music Wednesdays. It will first air at noon at facebook.com/timesfreepress and then will be available to watch there anytime. He performs along with his wife, Nikki, and fiddle player Emerald Butler.

LISA: If he shows up with a No. 2 pencil, keep your distance. Let's just say that when he wielded one in grade school, he wasn't taking names.
