The man killed in a Monday evening motorcycle crash in East Ridge was out on probation for a 2005 shooting death in Chattanooga.

Richard Lebron Mayo, 33, from Crossville, Tenn., died when his motorcycle crashed into a Orange Grove school bus on Monday, East Ridge police said.

Court records show he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in June 2007, served 11 months, 29 days in the Silverdale Detention Center and was out on probation when the crash occurred.

Times Free Press archives show Mr. Mayo pleaded guilty to killing Terry Goins after the two men had an argument at the Airport Inn. Witnesses told police Mr. Goins wielded a tire iron during the fight.

Mr. Goins' family expressed displeasure with the short length of Mr. Mayo's sentence, according to newspaper archives.
