Area schools closing due to weather

A number of Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia schools and agencies will be closed Wednesday due to heavy rains. The storm, which began late Monday, dropped about 4 inches of rain in the Chattanooga area. Schools officials said they consulted with emergency management agencies and decided to close or delay start times because of concerns about impassable roads.

* McMinn County Schools - closed

* Polk County Schools - closed

* Scottsboro City Schools - two-hour delay

* Shenandoah Baptist Academy - closed

* Sweetwater City Schools - closed

* Tennessee Christian Academy - closed

* Tree of Knowledge Learning Center - delayed, opens at 9 a.m.

* Walker County Health Dept. - delayed, opens at 10 a.m.

* Walker County Schools - closed
