Chattanooga: Bringing the inauguration home

For those who want to experience Tuesday's inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama without Washington, D.C.'s crowds, several local groups are happy to oblige.

Some will be holding inauguration-watching parties while Hamilton County Deomcrats will hold a party later in the day.

All the following parties are set for Tuesday.

Chattanooga African-American Museum

* Where: 200 E. M.L. King Blvd.

Jewish Cultural Center

* Where: 5461 North Terrace Road

* When: 10 a.m.

* Of note: Light refreshments will be served. Guests are invited to stay to attend a $6-per-plate luncheon meeting.

Takeover Community Development

* Where: Eastgate Town Center food court, 5600 Brainerd Road

* When: 10 a.m.

* Of note: Food court restaurants will be open and will be offering specials during lunch time.

Delta Sigma Theta sorority and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Multicultural Center

* Where: The Multicultural/Women's Center, Room 350, University Center, 615 McCallie Ave.

* When: 10:30 a.m.

* Of note: Food will be served.

Hamilton County Democratic Party

* Where: Local International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Hall, 3922 Volunteer Drive

* When: 5:30 p.m.
