Chattanooga: Suspect in rapper death arrested, charged with murder

March 31st, 2009 by Staff Report in Local Regional News

Chattanooga police arrested a man in connection with the death of local rapper Robert Henry Brown IV, also known as "Brikks" of the duo Pinney Woods.

Dexter Talley, 28, of Chattanooga, was arrested and booked on charges of felony murder, especially aggravated robbery, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with the Saturday night shooting that left Mr. Brown dead of a gunshot wound to his chest, said Chattanooga police spokeswoman Lt. Kim Noorbergen.

Another man - 44-year-old Josquin Jackson of Richmond, Calif. - also sustained gunshot wounds in the incident and was taken to Erlanger hospital. He currently is in critical condition, police said.

Police said they did not release information about the shooting before they had a suspect in custody because Mr. Jackson worried for his safety as the lone man able to identify the shooter.

Mr. Brown's partner in Pinney Woods was Travis Moore, known as Mobb, according to an artist bio on Black Ice Records, the Richmond, Calif.-based label representing Pinney Woods.

The pair have appeared on stage alongside nationally known groups like OutKast, 8 Ball & MJG and New Beginnings, which features fellow Chattanooga-native Usher.
