Design work on the newest section of the Riverwalk will start today with the awarding of a contract, Hamilton County officials said.
Hamilton County commissioners voted this morning to award a contract for $189,900 to Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon to design the segment from just west of the Olgiati Bridge to the Alstom Power site.
Jeannine Alday, chief of staff to County Mayor Claude Ramsey, said design work will begin immediately.
County Finance Director Louis Wright announced today the county has received its second AAA bond rating, this time from Moody's. In February the commission announced it had received a AAA rating from another rating agency, Standard & Poor's.
This will influence the county's interest rates on bonds and will likely save money on its debt.
Commissioners also voted to approve an agreement accepting a $500,000 community development block grant for the Mowbray Mountain Utility District to replace a water line.
