Sarah Palin testifies e-mail breach news 'a disruption' to life, campaign

By Jamie Satterfield

KNOXVILLE - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took her highly anticipated turn on the witness stand in federal court today to a packed audience.

Palin looked at ease and smile through most of her testimony, particularly when she was shown various family photographs that had been illegally obtained from her private Yahoo! e-mail account.

Palin told jurors that she was in a hotel room in Michigan "getting some speech writing and at the same time watching the news" when she learned that her account had been illegally accessed, and "I saw a picture of my kids on the television screen."

She called the illegal foray allegedly by former University of Tennessee student David C. Kernell "a disruption" to both her personal life and her campaign during the 2008 presidential election. She was Republican Sen. John McCain's running mate.
