A woman accused of trying to kill her ex-husband in his Signal Mountain chiropractic office while her children waited in the car today pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.
Tina Marie Loher had faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of reckless endangerment, but pleaded to the lower assault charge. She will not have do any more jail time.
Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman gave Loher a a three-year sentence but suspended it on the condition that she go to Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute for treatment.
Loher has been held in jail since last summer. Police said she drove to Dr. Terrance "Terry" Loher's clinic on July 10, 2009, and shot him in the leg while two other people were in the office.
During a preliminary court hearing just days after the shooting, investigators read excerpts from Loher's diary that revealed a troubled relationship with her ex-husband. Embroiled in a bitter custody battle at the time, Loher wrote that her former husband was "demonicfilled" and needed to die to quit making the lives of her and their daughters a "living hell."
