The sister of a man who died in a truck crash Thursday on Interstate 24 in Marion County said he was Donald Underwood, 54, of Nashville.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a blown tire caused the crash at mile marker 162.
"He went off the left side of the road, where the truck hit a median guard rail and flipped on its side," THP spokesman Mike Browning said. The vehicle then caught on fire.
According to Brown, witnesses said Underwood was still alive when the fire broke out, but his legs were trapped and he could not be pulled out in time.
Browning said the THP found out who he was from the Navy dog tags on his key ring. They have not issued a formal identification, but Shirley Brown of Colbert, Okla., called the Times Free Press to say it was her brother. She said it was his first time driving a load with the trucking company, Paschall Truck Lines out of Murray, Ky.
